The story of Avian Craft Recycle began with a simple curiosity. As a child, our founder Robert Erik Schmich loved to take things apart, fascinated by how the world worked. That early interest evolved into a lifelong career in mechanical engineering and aircraft maintenance, earning his first license in 1989.
Born in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, and trained in Vaduz and Berlin, Robert saw a major gap in how retired aircraft were handled. Valuable parts were discarded, metals wasted, and sustainability overlooked.
Founded in Germany, with roots in Liechtenstein, Avian Craft Recycle was created to solve that problem — turning end-of-life aircraft into opportunities for recovery, reuse, and responsible recycling.
Today, we partner with airlines, lessors, Government Agencies and MROs across Europe,Asia, South America and the United States to give aircraft a second life, while helping aviation take real steps toward a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future.
